Ben attended 5 hours of the Chicago Gospel Festival this weekend (over two different days), with lots of music, dancing and pretty great weather. The two stages at Millennium Park provided perfect background music for hours of exultant joy in the fountain of foutains. First, here are two pictures of Ben listening to a choir on the mainstage lawn. (all pics can be enlarged with a click)
St. Joseph's Asprin hit it big with free waterbottles (at least Ben appreciated the promotional effort). Dad had to refill it a half dozen times, not thinking that at some point Ben would need to expel that gallon of liquid (this dawned on Dad while Ben was riding on his shoulders).
And now onto the fountain.
Ben's at the bottom. The pool has about 1/4 inch of water in it. There are towers at each end that spit water as well as shower it down their sides. This happens every 5 minutes or so to squeals of delight. There are 25 to 50 kids playing in the fountain at any given time.
Ben loved the big faces and it makes for some great photos.
When the sun goes behind the clouds, it can seem a little cold if you're soaking wet...
...but with all the fun everyone was having, music playing, and a new water bottle, it's hard to notice.
Leading the charge to the fountain.
After a long day, we sat under the Picasso sculpture at Daley Plaza. Ben insisted on trying Dad's drink. Ben agrees with Oprah - white tea is the new green tea.
